Getting The Perfect Nights Sleep...

Wednesday, 13 January 2016

I know what it's like after Christmas you've had so much time of work or school that your sleeping routine is all over the place, I always feel like a sloth for about 2 weeks after a long holiday. I started to hate feeling so run down all the time that I had to make a bit of a change so I came up with a few ways to get that perfect nights sleep before going back to work, so you feel fresh and ready to take on the day.

1. Total darkness and silence:
For as long as I can remember my mum has always told me this is the best way to get the best sleep. I know thinking just turning your lights off and snuggling into bed is ok but if you purchase an eye mask and some ear plugs your life will be made. Ear buds are so handy to have if you want a peaceful nights sleep especially if like me you have an annoying clock that ticks, I find it seriously messes with my sleep, and the eye mask just because it's amazing to sleep in total darkness no annoying streetlights coming through the window.

2. Have a bath:
This may sound a bit useless but if you have a really relaxing bath before bed you'll have such a good sleep. If I know I'm going to have to get up at the crack of dawn I will always have a bath to get me ready, especially with some bubble bath or a lush bomb. Just chill, maybe take your laptop in and get some Netflix time or listen to some music, just relax, I guarantee you will feel better in the morning.

3. Fresh bed sheets:
The best thing about bed time is when I have fresh bed sheets! There is actually nothing better than curling up in bed feeling fresh and clean, they're just so cozy. This always makes me sleep better than sleeping in sheets you've had for a couple of days, I hate sleeping in my bed when theres crumbs or dust or something in it, it wakes me up if I feel it on me so I always change my sheets every few days. So I get the best sleep I can.

4. Read before bed:
I read somewhere years ago that if you read for 10-15 minutes before you go to sleep it helps you get a good nights sleep as it stops your mind from overthinking. This always stuck with me so whether it's a book or a magazine I always do a bit of reading before bed, I tend to stay away from reading things on my phone or iPad because the harsh lights tend to hurt my eyes at night time. So reading a little something will really help.

5. Moisturise:
This might sound like a little bit of a weird one to add but I always find that if I moisturise after my heavenly bubble bath with an amazing smelling cream it makes me feel so much more pampered. Something that smells like lavender would be perfect because lavender is so relaxing and makes you sleep so much better.

There you have it, my top tips for getting that perfect nights sleep, hope this helps and you get all the zzz's you need.
