Cream Highlighter vs Powder Highlighter...

Monday, 30 November 2015

The age old question I ask myself is which highlighter shall I use? If I'm 100% honest with you ladies, before I started blogging I didn't even know what highlighting was let alone weather I should use cream or powder! So recently I've started using them every other day, so one day I wear my creamy one, one day I just wear my powder and sometimes if I'm feeling extra fancy, I'll wear both.

Powder Highlight
My current powder highlight of choice is the Sleek Face Contour Kit in 'Light'. I picked this up because it came with a contour kit, which is also pretty good but, as you can tell I don't really use it much anymore. This highlight is has a very subtle glow so its perfect in the summer with that amazing tan. The one thing I do find with this highlighter is that if you're wearing the powder alone it doesn't really stay without a setting spray, even with that I still adore it.

Creme Highlight
The creamy highlighter I'm using at the moment is the Topshop Glow Highlighter in 'Polish'. I love this highlighter its such a nice glow all year round, it also makes the perfect base glow. Unlike the powder highlight it stays on really nicely all day and all night with or without a setting spray. You only need a little bit on your cheekbones to have that perfect glow.

Both Together
I am obsessed with using these two highlighters together, I think it gives the perfect amount of sparkle on a night out. It makes me look like my skin is seriously glowing, as the creme works perfectly as a glowy primer it makes the powder stick perfectly, I love them, they're definitely my must have beauty item this year.

What are your favourite highlighters?

My Early New Years Resolutions...

Wednesday, 18 November 2015

When it gets to this time of the years many things run around my head and I start thinking about my New Years resolutions, saying that, I always want to start them early, so here goes...

Up my cardio game
I workout about 3-5 times a week at the moment, I usually weight train which kills me by the end of the week, although I love it. I recently purchased Tammy Hembrow's Fitness Instagram which is amazing, it works out to about £20 but it's honestly so easy to follow especially if you usually have trouble following guides.
One thing about it is if you're like me and you need to lose quite a bit of weight before toning up the non existent muscles, you'll know cardio is a massive factor in losing the weight. Because I follow her weight training so religiously I've started to slack on my cardio so I've not seen a lot of weight loss in agessssss. So that's defo number 1, more cardio, so more running and swimming, maybe a cheeky bike ride here and there, lose that weight finally.

Take more photos
Now, for a professional photographer I am shockingly bad at taking photos in my own time. Christmas and events like that is an exception but everyday life I ned to document more.
My Instagram is one of my social media accounts that I love to browse through, liking photo after photo, but I never have any interesting images to post, which is actually getting a little bit annoying. So one thing I need to do a lot more of is that, maybe buy a new Instagram only camera to take beaut images on, or maybe learn to use my phone camera a lot better.

Plan my blogging diary
My organisation skills are terrible, there is nothing else to say than that. As you've probably noticed I've been missing a day of blog posts here and there and I've even dropped my Sunday posts for the time being while I'm trying to get through this term of Uni.
So while I'm on my Christmas break I intend on getting my act together, writing posts early so I'm not having to do them the night before, which I may or may not be doing right now.

Get more sleep
One of my major tasks is to get more sleep. I'm so used to waking up early that on my days off I seem to wake up early too, the only problem with this is when I know I have a day off, I usually stay up till the early hours of the morning watching episode after episode on Netflix, this needs to stop. My aim is to get at least 8 hours sleep a night with out fail, lets see how long this lasts.

Eat completely clean
If you read my blog you know how much I love to eat clean, although I can sometimes get really stuck and have no idea what to eat and what to do, like after summer and loving life, eating what I want and drinking way too much alcohol I've found it really hard to get my head back in the game.
My aim is to eat a completely clean diet, no excuses with one cheat meal a week so I have something to aim for.

Drink more water
Last but not least, drink more water. I'm probably one of the worst people to drink enough water ever, I'm lucky if I drink a litre, I need to start drinking at least 2.5l a day so I can lose weight and feel better in myself, also my skin is having major breakouts recently so I'm hoping this will help with that.

Do you have any early New Years resolutions?

Claris Daily Energiser Cleansing Gel...

Wednesday, 11 November 2015

If you read my blog you will know that I love to try out new cleansers. This Clarins daily wash was actually one that I picked up at duty free for my mum on the way back from Barcelona, but she's useless with beauty products so she gave it to me.
It was quite expensive for a small bottle of face wash but it was so worth it, I bought it from duty free for about £10.50 but I think you can get it in boots for £13. I love this face wash, its so kind to my skin and I usually have really sensitive skin so it's so nice to find a good cleanser, which is why I rarely spend a lot of money on one.

I use about a pea size of it every morning, as it's an energising face wash it makes my skin look so awake and healthy, I absolutely love it, it makes my skin bright and actually makes me look alive on my early morning starts.

Have you tried out any new cleansers recently?

French Toast With Strawberry And Lime Sauce

Monday, 9 November 2015

I usually eat a completely clean diet but once a week I like to treat myself to a cheat day. This is one  of my favourite breakfasts to make on cheat day, although you can get around if you don't like to have a cheat day, for example you can change the sugar to coconut sugar to make it clean, although it is always good to have a cheat day, it gives your metabolism a little spike to make it work a little bit harder instead of it getting too used to your usual routine.

For the strawberry and lime sauce:
Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 Cups of fresh chopped strawberries
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cornflour
  • 1/2 Fresh lime juice
  • Pinch of salt (tiny)
Method
  1. Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and heat on a low heat, simmer for about 10 minutes continuously string until the sugar has dissolved and its a syrup consistency
  2. While its cooked leave to the side still in the pan, once your toast is cooked add to a little jug
For the toast:
Ingredients
  • 1/2 Tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp milk
  • 1/4 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 Slices bread (I like fresh sourdough but you can use any that you like)
Method
  1. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla extract to a bowl and whisk together
  2. Once mixed pour the mixture into a flatter dish, like a flan tray or something
  3. Add the butter to a frying pan and melt
  4. While the butter is melting, dip the bread slices into the mixture and cover all over
  5. Add the bread to the frying pan and cook until both sides are golden brown
  6. Tower up the toast and pour over your strawberry sauce and ENJOY.

Chili Avocado, Halloumi and Hummus Toast

Wednesday, 4 November 2015

In my eyes there's nothing better than some avocado toast for that quick but filling lunch. But sometimes it can get a little bit boring so I've created this beauty for  a little twist.

Ingredients
  • 4 Slices of halloumi
  • 1 Whole organic avocado
  • 4 Slices fresh rye bread
  • 1/2 Fresh lime
  • 1 tsp Dried chili flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Rock salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Hummus (per slice)
  • 1 tsp Coconut oil
  • Dribble of balsamic vinegar
Method
  1. First up prepare the avocado. Cut up into cubes and add to a bowl, squeeze in the lime, add salt, add pepper and add the chilis and mix, put to the side.
  2. While thats to the side, add the coconut oil to a pan and melt, then add the halloumi and cook
  3. While thats cooking add the rye bread to your toaster and toast lightly.
  4. When toasted, spread the hummus on to each slice
  5. Spoon on the avocado and leave in chunks
  6. Once the halloumi is nice and brown add on the top
  7. Dribble the balsamic vinegar over the top, not too much just a little, and enjoy!
