Overcoming Depression

This is a bit of a different post for me as I don't usually write about my lifestyle and life. Now as a lot of you don't know me this is quite personal but as I have moved on from my past I hope I can help others in my life.

I suffered with depression and anxiety for so many years of my life, everyday I felt down and unable to get out of bed for the day, all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and stay there all day.
About 2 years ago I said enough is enough and I needed to get a hold of myself. I met someone who really helped me through all of my troubles, my amazing boyfriend! Now I'm not saying at all get a boyfriend or girlfriend and you'll be fine, it was a lot more than that, but I'm saying that if it wasn't for him I don't even want to think about what my life would be like today. There was other things that helped me through all of this too which I will share with you and hopefully it could help you too.

TALK TO SOMEONE 
Now I know this sounds a lot easier than it is to do, I know, but this was the fundamental part of my recovery. I didn't talk to a therapist or anyone professional, which I could have done but I thought that if I told my friends and then eventually my family they could help me in anyway they could. I started with telling my boyfriend and then my best friend, they spoke to me about my problems and that was probably the hardest part of my recovery, actually telling someone I had a problem.
If it would be easier to tell someone you don't know, which I fully understand, start by going to your GP and telling them. They will be able to refer you to a councillor where you can talk about all your problems with them, if they think you have something other than depression, they will be able to help you through anything. But honestly the first step if you want to get better is telling someone!

FIND A HOBBY
Find something that makes you happy, mine was socialising more with my friends as I was very unsociable person due to my anxiety, I also threw myself in to uni work and made myself a better person. It could be anything, even blogging which I find makes me so happy now, whenever you're feeling down throw yourself into your hobby to distract you. This may be a bit of a different story, but if you harm yourself this is the perfect time to just jump to your hobby rather than that.

START A DIARY
I found this a really helpful thing to do, if I was ever feeling down or if I ever felt like harming myself in anyway, I pulled out my diary and wrote everything down. You need a way to let all your feelings out, I never wanted to tell anyone before I started talking to people about my problems so I wrote them all down. This really helped me.

Chocolate and Passion Fruit Porridge

When I'm eating healthy I find it really difficult to eat healthy in the mornings as I always wake up starving hungry and all I want to do is pig out on carbs, so having some healthy and easy ideas in mind help me a lot to keep on track.
This is the nicest breakfast to have if you have a sweet tooth in the mornings and if you're in a rush and its so easy to make.

Ingredients:
  • Porridge oats (I use gluten free)- 1/2 cup
  • Almond milk- 300ml
  • Cacao Powder- 1 tbsp
  • Passion fruit- 1/2 a fruit
  • Blueberries- 1 handful
  • Rasberries- 1 handful
  • Banana- 1 cut up
  • Coconut sugar- 1 tbsp (optional)
Method:
  1. Mix together the porridge oats and cacao powder in a bowl so it doesn't raise and make it awkward to mix in the saucepan.
  2. Add the cacao, oats and almond milk to a saucepan and simmer for about 6-7 minutes until its a  creamy texture.
  3. If you're adding coconut sugar, add this in now and mix it in throughly.
  4. Add to a bowl and cut up all the fruit to put on top, and spoon the half a passion fruit on to the top. If you're obsessed with passionfruit like me you can even have a whole one.
It's that simple and so easy, the longest part of this breakfast is the eating it!

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hour Foundation

I can't believe this is my 30th post on my blog, time has seriously gone so quickly! Time really does fly when you're having fun, but onto the post.
My skin has a serious love, hate relationship with foundation. I don't know what it is about my skin but it just doesn't like foundation in the slightest so I find it so hard to find one that actually works. 
I have found 2 that work on my skin, the first one is the No7 Intelligent Colour Foundation but at £15.50 its a little on the pricy side, not only that but the bottle is actually quite small so doesn't last very long, so I had to opt for a more budget foundation.

So, the search for my budget brand was a long hard struggle but after a lot of recommendations I opted for the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hour Foundation which was only £7.99, and the pot is actually massive, I've had it about a month now and I still feel like I've barely used it. 
This foundation is so amazing mostly because it actually stays on my skin, even on a night out, usually I get home from clubbing and look at myself in the mirror and feel sorry for people having to have looked at me looking like that! But with this foundation my skin still looks flawless, so the 25hour is really true, so if you're like me and make up just doesn't stick to your skin I would recommend you try this, because I looooove it.
This foundation will always be a must have in my make up bag from now on, I don't think I could live without it.
